Using basic geometric shapes for form and composition in each painting Mr. Pierre, challenges himself to have a natural organic flow of brush strokes in every paintings, with a consistent balance of warm and cool contrasts, using 8 to 12 layers of hand mixed colors to create dimension and space. He states that “every idea starts with how I can play with inches of feet allowed on the surface to juxtapose rough sketches of shapes that I need to use to communicate the subject matter.”

In sharing with Louisiana Love about his latest commemorative piece for the 2013 Andouille Fest, “I love the culture of Louisiana and I feel that St. John the Baptist Parish represents some of the best culture of Louisiana especially the outdoors and the food. It was fun and nostalgic to provide that piece.”  He has been painting professionally for 20 years; he started off his freshman year in college volunteering.

Since then Mr. Pierre’s work has been celebrated and enjoyed across the world.  He has had the privilege of providing murals throughout the city, official artwork for The Essence Festival (2007).  In addition, his art has been featured on the set of the HBO series, “Treme” and he was named, “Most Outstanding Artist of the Year” by the National Conference of Artists (NCA).

Coupled with his love for art is his passion for sharing his work with inner city youth. He devotes time teaching integrating art with math, science and history to youth of all ages.
